    Description

    Fantastic historical scarce (224,000 struck) George V Copper 1/4 ANNA, dated 1912. The coin is identified as KM# 16. The coin is PCGS graded MS62BN -- this is the only PCGS graded coin with that grade, and only 2 are graded higher.
    The Obverse of the coin depicts Crowned bust of King George V left, and the Lettering reads: GEORGE V KING EMPEROR. The Lettering on the Reverse reads: SAILANA STATE / ONE / QUARTER / ANNA / INDIA / 1912 / सैलाना राज (Sailana State.)
    A bit of history - Sailana State was founded by Jai Singh, great-grandson of Ratan Singh, founder of Ratlam State in 1736. Initially his capital was at Raoti.
    He built Sailana city as his new capital in 1736. On 5 January 1819 Sailana State became a British protectorate. Its last ruler signed the accession to the Indian Union on 15 June 1948. The coin was struck during the reign of Jashwant Singh II.
